oh oh...

Another Brown! Phil Brown Manager of Hull City FC. Whoever said that Hull is dull. After 6 games in the English Premier League (football for those not in the know!) they have 11 points; I can't quite remember but I think that was Derby's total at the end of last season! [Update: I remembered correctly] Unfortunately for Arsenal today's win was at their expense; losing 1-2 at home; I think (I'm doing a lot of thinking) that this is only Arsenal's 2nd defeat at the Emirates Stadium. Links to follow...BBC match report HERE...and KAROO who? Black and amber in purple patch give Gunners the blues...me included! Throughly deserved by all accounts.

I watched this and I have to say Arsenal lost for three reasons 1)William Gallas 2)Arsenal kept trying to walk the ball into the net - Adebayor doesn't score nearly enough goals for the number of times he finds himself in the box and thirdly - Hull played good football and had a game plan which they stuck to. The kids argument doesn't really wash when you look at the side Arsenal put out, Cesc has played as many games for Arsenal than Beckham and the two Nevilles had by the time United won the treble in 1999 and apart from Walcott and Denilson the others are experienced in terms of games played. Arsenal need a leader and quickly.

Cheers Paul...I've not watched enough to be able to comment on Gallas: I know AW wanted to keep him as captain to be able to prove that last season wasn't the norm (oh well...) I think after the S.Utd Carling Cup game the kids arguement is no good anyway - who has rasied this?

The main thing for me is your point 2: for at least 3 or 4 seasons, and I know we've spoken about thsi before, Arsenal have been guilty of an inability to kill a game off: until they convert all teh cahnces they invariably make then it's going to be the same: the other thing in my mind is that IN THEIR MINDS they'd won before the game started...more than the odd football game has been lost due to complacency and as always when you realise you've been complacent it's already too late.

AW was very good in the post match interview he said his team didn't deserve to win because they didn't concentrate for 90 minutes and Hull scored two very good goals.

Ian Wright brought up the kids thing on Thursday after the Cup win - he says that a lot of Gooners are now wondering at which point does the team mature? He said something that would worry me if I was an Arsenal fan, he said that AW knows what he's doing and if it takes 5, 10 or 15 years they will get there. Are Arsenal the new Newcastle? Only joking, they've been great to watch so far this season - if only I could stop shouting 'shoot' at the screen.
