Oppressive option?...

Step one? European Commission - Press release: 'The Commission accepts that Spain can temporarily restrict the free movement of Romanian workers'. Well, well...

I'm not surprised by this. Long, long ago on the old 5Live boards I pointed out the problems of Romanians on the Spanish economy, mainly thanks to what you would call a hat-tip from a client who retired there. At least something official vindicates the anecdotal after all these years.

Before though they weren't such a problem (except begging on the metro!)and if the construction industry hadn't collapsed followed by a lot else I think the economy could have absorbed in no problem...like the Poles etc in teh UK! I suspect there's a similar story in each EU country. I think about 35 maybe 40% of the Romanians in Spain are unemployed at present.
