Oborne on ossified 'opposition'...

"Coming to the BBC, an everyday story of bias and falling standards"...coming? Peter Oborne in the DT this week:
"Sadly, it is only very rarely that the BBC keeps its side of the bargain, and this negligence is starting to become a scandal. Rather than representing the nation as a whole, it has become a vital resource – and sometimes attack weapon – for a narrow, arrogant Left-Liberal elite."
"This problem is made much worse by the fact that bias is not the only problem. A further difficulty is lack of standards. It is not simply the opinions of BBC producers and reporters that are suspect. So are the facts they put in front of the public" (my emphasis); I would agree with Oborne, admittedly it is a minor part of total BBC output but the omission of facts - which, it must be said, is akin to lying - on various topics not part of the indoctrinated BBC view, is also a daily occurrence.

Hat-tip: Biased BBC.

Well, there was a big protests against cuts and changes in welfare for those who are ill two weekends ago and they were hardly reported.

Someone was lined up to talk about this on a popular radio show with a controversial host and at the last minute they pulled the debate and went with the capatist demonstration at St. Paul's in London which had already had loads of publicity and continues to get enough coverage. The programme is 3 hours long so there was ample time to cover both topics.

And in a way the story kind of dovetails with the demonstration about capitalism.

The other night John Humpries of the radio programme "Today" did a documentary on the welfare state and what changes are coming in and again just about everone is up in arms about how biased the script and questions were and examples shown to illustrate his points. I wasn't impressed either.

So there are two examples that I found very bad example of the BBC's journalism.

And I am not usually much a BBC basher!

Span, I've just tried to look at Paul's blog and it says it's been removed.

Any idea what's happening?

Cheers guys, my comments today were because I thought he'd been knobbled too! If he's "OK" then that's good to know!

Weird isn't it Gildy, I think they are trying to balance and ending up all over the place instead.
