Ominous Olympian oversight...

The crazy situation with security firm GS4 (they are "very, very disappointed and embarrassed") now has the media spotlight firmly on safety issues: one employee for G4S says he believes "there is a 50-50 chance someone could carry a bomb into one of the Olympic venues." It is certainly worrying that during intensive training to operate X-ray machines - the primary purpose of which is to detect lethal weapons and explosives - "failed to spot decommissioned hand-grenades and firearms during a test"...oops.

This is one of those 'I don't know what to get him/her for Christmas moments. Seven years to organise this - how much notice do you need. Drop out rate of 50% of trainees, majority of whom couldn't speak English! Bloody hell.

Have to give Margaret Hodge some kudos though (and I know how much you love her) she's like a dog with a bone and started asking questions about this last Christmas.

yes, good for her...and you're right about what I think of her, same with Keith Slime Vaz who was on the radio today.

The conspiracy theorist within me says this was orchestrated to make sure army and police were involved to a much higher degree than first planned.

Funnily enough Janis thinks the same!

Thanks for the post btw - health and work both good although too much of the latter.

Hope you are well.
