Our overseers II...

Dick Puddlecote was reminded of politician and of state hypocrisy "after reading Anna Raccoon's article on Starbucks.
Yes, as through this world I wander I meet lots of funny men; Some’ll rob you with a six-gun, And some with a fountain pen. Woody Guthrie, 'The Ballad of Pretty Boy Floyd'.

Shy has posted something along similar lines.

Putting aside the party politics what I find so frustrating about this is that Parliament regularly passes bills regarding our finance and taxes that people in parliament don't understand. I've pointed this out before but there's no debate to be had because the only people pouring over the fine detail of the autumn statement or the budget will be people like me whose job depends on it.

We have, as somebody pointed out last week in the Starbucks/Google/Amazon (legal) fiasco, a Parliament that is not only not answerable to the electorate except for once every five years but actually consists of people whose main vested interests lie beyond Westminster and beyond their current employment situation.

The gob-smacking hypocrisy is what gets me.
