Obama's oratory...

Or not as the case may be. I mentioned last month in Obamaworship about the "load of banal piffle" that Obama was reading out; and "the winning entry from a primary school competition about who can write the most cringe-worthy pap about pink fluffy clouds and jam for everybody" however he hasn't improved much and it appears that in yesterday's State of the Union address
"President Obama's chief speechwriter has been replaced by a cliché-generator circa 1960. His erstwhile oratory was a melee of cringe-inducing lines ripped straight from a sit-in."
So says Kirsten Powers in 'Same old, same old from Obama':USA TODAY.

Hi Span,
I doubt Obama can deliver probably as much due to the makeup of the senate and how it plays out in the media but his plans are the opposite of what is being tried in the UK and Europe in general.

Which as they usually say what America does we copy, it will be difficult seeing that we have committed the country to a programme of austerity.

It will be interesting to see which plan works or fails whether it takes years as it likely will.

Hi Gildy, yes some similarities and some differences. But you are right it will take years but really we have known that for years too.

As you may have guessed I always wonder how the BBC manages it's blatant two-faced reporting: Obama great all Bush's (and Republicans') fault; Coalition crap (nothing to do with Brown and New Labour)

Fair point...You know what? I am not sure that any party knows how to put things right.

And to a lesser of greater extent our system is now dominated by parties that lean to the right. Even Labour bears no resemblance to why it was started over 100 years ago.

I think I would welcome a new party offering a leftest view just so you can say there is another choice. Even if it was unsuccessful.

Still having problems with your blog and it even told me there were problems...

Hope it will sort itself out soon...

Hi Gildy, not sure what the problem could be then, do you use IE?

Re politics, i thought all those years of New Labour there should have been a new leftist party but everyone was just so happy dissing the Tories and spending what they didn't have.

You may have solved the problem Span :o)I have tried Chrome and so far it seems to be working. So it looks like an IE problem.
