Order-order 'ors d'oeuvre...

Classic...and I can't stop laughing: Guido has published a montage of photographs of France's President François Hollande in various stages of trying to shake hands with various 'fellow leaders' (click image to enlarge); I'm giggling away as I write this especially at the Iranian dude and the last one where at least the other guys have seen the hand but don't look too keen to grasp and shake it...the point of course was that Hollande is so unpopular and now changing tack, away from 'Milibandism'. Guido goes on to write that Labour will have to change tack too as the "cost-of-living crisis" (Copyright Labour but BBC has a Licensing Agreement.) evaporates.

P.S. Happy New Year!
P.P.S. [9 p.m.] Happy? Worried! Time to fire-proof the mattress.

Love the photos! The little guy is thinking about a comeback, not sure what Carla thinks of it all.

Re the cost-of-living crisis I get the feeling from talking to people that there is a quite confidence returning but people don't want to shout about it in case it goes wrong (we are British after all!)

Re the P.P.S - it must be something in the water because I can't remember a time since the late 1970's when Karl Marx appeared in so many articles.

They're good, it had me in stitches for a while.

I agree re crisis, by no means meaning that nobody is hurting but certainly things on the up. Livid re councils etc closing libraries but increasing numbers of high paid managers.

Re Marx and associated theories. read the following list and tell me it's not where we've been taken:

1) The creation of racism offences.
2) Continual change to create confusion.
3) The teaching of sex and homosexuality to children.
4) The undermining of schools' and teachers' authority.
5) Huge immigration to destroy identity.
6) The promotion of excessive drinking.
7) Emptying of churches.
8) An unreliable legal system with bias against victims of crime.
9) Dependency on the state or state benefits.
10) Control and dumbing down of media.
11) Encouraging the breakdown of the family."
