There is a lot of spin but very little substance.

I am cynical and most of my respect has disappeared. I am disillusioned with our system or perhaps my eyes have been opened.

And the older I am I feel I am unable to change things and see it getting worse and my voice will not be heard.

The Great Gildersleevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14645982900310730576noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16962681.post-26564678146795473362013-02-07T00:50:49.113+00:002013-02-07T00:50:49.113+00:00Thing is, I suspect that before, decades ago they ...Thing is, I suspect that before, decades ago they weren't so different: OK very different in a way because most were well off, we didn't have the 'open' world we live in so we didn't know of their secrets blah blah blah but the same in that at least they had lived and knew stuff, funny thing call life experience. I reckon 80% of the entire current Westminster bubble are suited fuckwits whose very aim was to GET there rather than 'grow into it'.Span Owshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10144861546996033462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16962681.post-76719366196660950562013-02-05T17:37:29.451+00:002013-02-05T17:37:29.451+00:00Politicians must by definition be different to us....Politicians must by definition be different to us. They are after all public servants who have levels of privilege beyond most peoples comprehension, levels of income beyond most levels etc and also parliamentary privilege that generally makes them unsackable and unbendable. And yet we still want them to have higher moral values to ourselves and set examples which they can't help to maintain.

Just as there are moments when I am watching a football match and think to myself 'this is silly watching men in shorts' so I often greet the start of 'P.M' with a sigh because politics demands so much attention - it's the ultimate child with attention deficit syndrome.

Mrs T had one thing that is obviously in common with her peers from her television interviews and that is that she rarely listened to either the interviewer or her fellow interviewees but she was generally clever enough to be ahead of the game,

Re Huhne I agree it was a minor crime and that we shouldn't judge politicians on their personalities (but see above) unfortunately in this case so much public time and money has been wasted trying to prove a lie and the peversion of justice which are serious crimes.

Have fun in Mehico.Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15984687997030721919noreply@blogger.com
