Oscar orgullo (orgooyou)...

"There is, I believe, in every disposition a tendency to some particular evil, a natural defect, which not even the best education can overcome.''
"And your defect is a propensity to hate every body.''
"And yours,'' he replied with a smile, "is
wilfully to misunderstand them.''

Could be talking about the world today and all its related problems...but then Miss Bingley said "Do let us have a little music,''...yes, Pride and Prejudice (
Orgullo y Prejuicio) by Jane Austen (read online here)

The film has some nominations at this years Oscars among which is one for best actress (full list here)...COME ON KEIRA! Phwoar!!!.

I also had a dream where I was Tom Ford the other night...no, not what your thinking! I was just very jealous. Now where did I put my camera and chest wig?

hehehe..if I could leave a 'doh' smiley on here I would do Sarnia!

I'm surprised they haven't pulled the post yet...what with being SOOOOOOOOO off topic and all.

P.S. Welcome (back) to my blog!

P&P is one of my favourite books. I think Mr. Bennet is quite funny in it.

As for your first paragraph, it's because it's easier to hate than to love.

That's very profound Finny, but I disagree: love is just there and takes no effort if it is real; hate on the other hand takes a lot of effort and needs working up, which is why it is such an evil emotion. That is also why I have no time at all for the religious intolerance we see, where concerted hate is whipped up and becomes pure, uncontrolled, irrational evil.

I knew you'd like the book , what with all your Dickens and Alexander Dumas favourites you'd really enjoy it.

What the **** am I doing posting comments at 4.45am. ;-)

Seriously, thanks for adding me to the list on the opening page...good to see you around again...anywhere. It must be ages as far as the Station Board goes.

It ebbs, it flows and generally its been so laid back and allowed to often go off topic.

Then suddenly they seem to have a purge from above, if we're lucky after a couple of days...they forget about us and we carry on as before.

I'm going to stop now otherwise this will get soooo long.

Cheers

No wonder you like P&P, this might have been written about you! "The power of doing anything with quickness is always prized much by the possessor, and often without any attention to the imperfection of the performance."

;-)

Welcome Mr. Gildersleeve. I hope the link funnels some visiters your way. I must say I was surprised by the timing of your post...up early or bed late?

Gavin...imperfection?...you wound me, I am a virgo and a stickler and I'm cut to the quick. More haste less speed etc....now I'll have to dig up an appropriate quote for you...

Gavin Corder said...

"visiters" need I say more?

AND word has it you arrive earlier than necessary as a rule!

Span Ows said...

Need you say more about what? More haste less speed Gavin; look at my post on M&N's blog: there are about 10 spelling mistakes and that was with two attempts! A mere o for an e here is but a trifle. You're the only one who goes on about speed and only when someone has done something before you.

Oh Gavin, I do believe you missed out a comma; it could become REALLY tiresome if we were to have a spelling/ syntax war.

Oh dear. Joke too far. I'm sorry. My round.

:-)

I'm drying out...at least until tonight.

My spelling was reasonably good, not sure about the grammar though...but as long as I can be understood, that will do.

Since doing the blogs/messageboards and adding a spell checker I find all kinds of words that need correcting.

My favourite problem is transposing words so that they are there but in the wrong order.

It was a late post...I'd wanted to reply to you and found the isp was down for hours...and just happened to go back to the pc do check on some task I'd left running. Found the net was working again so...

Can you send some sunshine our way, its dull wet and cold?

I've an uncle out at his villa at present(that's what he says...I think its really an apartment)but at least he's there :-)

South Coast, Mariera(sp?)

Gildy, I wouldn't dream of complaining about your spelling etc...or at least not until I knew a lot better. I was on about Gvain who had had a dig at me...we do it quite often!!!

Mariera?? If its a small place then there's a palce near Almería but I don't know it at all. Not far from Malaga where I have a friend that I keep promising to visit.
