Obfuscation, oblivescence, obnubilation, obscurantism...

Call it what you will. But Remember Remember the 5th of November...no Ows input, just a bunch of great quotes from V for Vendetta

"Since mankind's dawn, a handful of oppressors have accepted the responsibility over our lives that we should have accepted for ourselves. By doing so, they took our power. By doing nothing, we gave it away. We've seen where their way leads, through camps and wars, towards the slaughterhouse.

"Where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission."

"How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense."
"Knowledge, like air, is vital to life. Like air, no one should be denied it."
"Equality and freedom are not luxuries to lightly cast aside. Without them, order cannot long endure before approaching depths beyond imagining."

"No. This is only the land of take-what-you-want. Anarchy means 'without leaders', not 'without order'. With anarchy comes an age or ordnung, of true order, which is to say voluntary order... this age of ordung will begin when the mad and incoherent cycle of verwirrung that these bulletins reveal has run its course... This is not anarchy, Eve. This is chaos."

Update: early hours (before 2 a.m. on 6th November in UK...but I'm not there, still 5th November here. not telling you where, but been in 4 LatAm countries in the past 3 weeks: age-old readers of Owsblog, [all 3 or 4 or you hahaha] will know that hasn't changed for 20 odd years). Anyhoo, by complete coincidence A MIDWESTERN DOCTOR, who writes the Substack 'The Forgotten Side of Medicineposted today that [he] Would Like To Take This Day To Honor A Masterpiece, yes, the aforementioned megamovie V for Vendetta: "How my favorite movie foreshadowed the beginning and end of COVID-19" [sic: yank spelling not typos].

And this should be the first quote; just fill in the blank re 'this country'...
And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there?

Oncoming oppression III...

...or is it IV, or XV?! *

Ministerio de Propaganda

If you tolerate this, Then your children will be next [MSP Lyrics] ...but it's already too late, your children - or at the latest their children - will be dead or slaves. Not about WWIII the West is trying to start, not about Madrid (Spanish Civil War) but certainly involving multiple equivalents of the Ministerio de Propaganda

What am I on about? Just yesterday YouGov (yeah yeah, know who they are and what they are...and polls suck, but hey-ho) released a poll; it coincides with the highly suspicious controlled release of Government Tweets during the pandemic, nudging us towards blaming just a few crass 'incompetents' for two years of of totalitarian oppression and gross negligence that caused multiple thousands of deaths (probably millions worldwide, and certainly more than any virus).

The poll: "In hindsight, thinking about the government's handling of the Covid‑19 outbreak, do you think their approach was generally...?"

Now, one would think, especially now with all the information that is openly being reported [facts that many - mostly unjabbed - had, by complete coincidence, or magic, or something, knew years ago] would mean that anybody even remotely lucid would say, with absolutely no doubt whatsoever, that the government's handling was absolutely and utterly bat-shit (see what I did there?) crazy; high-handed jack-booted face-punchingly fucked up crazy...

...you'd be wrong. Thirty seven percent (37%!!!) of all adults thought the government wasn't strict enough.

There are several break-downs of the full numbers: gender, age, region, politics and social grade.  For the most part it is similarly split: in 'Politics' no surprise the lefty liberal fuckwits wanted harder lockdown, as did Remainers. In gender, males were slightly higher than females in 'Too strict', and fewer males were 'Don't knows'; similar to females in the lower social grade: they too were higher 'Too strict' and fewer 'Don't knows'.

BUT, the major tell, the point of this post, and the highest number throughout the poll: in the Age section (see table below): over half (51%) of 18-24 year olds thought the government's approach was 'Not strict enough'. We're fucked. They are doomed.

* Previous posts: Oncoming oppression, Oncoming oppression II although - rather embarrassingly - I note I used those same two titles before: the first in 2008 and 2009, and the second in 2011: several pages of Oppression posts HERE, no surprise that many are in last last three years.

Objects of odium, ostracised...

Following the earlier overture things have heated up. The push back now has it's own push back: Melissa Healy at the LA Times muses that "It's as if [the non-covid-jabbed are] no longer hazardous to the rest of us. Or are they?" It's as if...? ...WTF? Really? [Hat-tip: The Naked Emperor

Melissa writes: "For almost two years, COVID-19 vaccine holdouts have been the objects of earnest pleading and financial inducements, of social-media shaming and truth campaigns. They’ve missed weddings, birthday celebrations and recitals, and even forfeited high-stakes athletic competitions. Until last month, they were barred from entering the United States and more than 100 other countries.

Now the unvaccinated are suddenly back in the mix.

I - an object - am still barred Melissa. Pharma profits need maintaining.  But of course she has an 'expert' or two to boost the ridiculous pap she has written. Amazing how moronic some experts are becoming too.

BOB's artwork may seem a bit OTT but it isn't. The comparisons to Nazi Germany batted about may also seem OTT but they aren't: what happened is exactly how 'it' starts. Gina was right

The power was wielded by many 'normal' people, they now want forgive and forget: as Laura puts it so well: Just say no...

"... the people who told you were non-essential, that your children would kill your elderly parents or grandparents, that you had to save your country's pathetic and useless socialized medical system by locking you in your house, that you and your children had to take several dangerous ("safe and effective") injections that you didn't want or need and lied about every detail about it, the same people who taped up park benches, forced masks on toddlers, kicked autistic children off of planes, imprisoned frail and vulnerable senior citizens and disabled humans with sick and contagious covid patients in their respective nursing homes and homes for the developmentally disabled in order for them to die en masse, the ones who dragged pregnant women getting fresh air from park benches, kept people from getting regular medical care and disease treatment, refused organ transplants to the unvaccinated, forced old and sick people to die alone behind plastic barriers in hospitals, ripped families apart and destroyed friendships, businesses and economies, yes those people want an amnesty. Well screw that."
"The people who enacted these policies are anti-human psychopaths who do not deserve mercy. Have you seen any real apologies for their behaviour? I saw one on Twitter and the new Premier of Alberta is making a good start of it. But mostly what I see is deeply sinister and shameless humans who just want forgiveness and absolution without doing any of the requisite moral and spiritual work i.e. sincerely apologizing, repenting and vowing never again to repeat their evil ways."
"Absolutely and positively no".

Ostler's obscurantist optimistic overture...

Poor Emily. I really do think she was an honest convert now seeking to stop a tsunami of hate. But she stuck her head above the parapet and is reaping the whirlwind. I think the bad cat was the first to pick up on it, "emily oster's no good, really bad, terrible idea" [LINK] then Igor: "Wow. The Atlantic has a front-page article (archive link) by Prof. Emily Oster, asking for 'Pandemic Amnesty'". But Mary Harrington at Unherd has a great take on 'The tyranny of a Covid amnesty'.
Nor is having expertise or evidence on your side much of a defence.
Read the comments.

Luckily for me I realise many may not even know what I'm talking about because they do not inhabit the various bubbles that are screeching (with reason IMHO) about Emily Oster, in The Atlantic, who suggested a 'pandemic amnesty'.

As per Eugyppius "I don’t know much about the American pandemic pundits, but I gather that Brown University economist and “parenting guru” Emily Oster is far from the worst of them.".

Very far from the worst and I bet there are many hoping the idea catches on...it won't.  The Naked Emperor today shows a few more of the scumbags...of the many...they were wrong, knowingly. They helped totalitarianism, they were 'the concentration camp guards' but with less of an excuse than those Nazi enablers. They demonised and in some cases drove to death many people. They will not be forgotten; they will not be forgiven. They are evil. They are Legion.

...they are known.

Update: I am totally in agreement with - and have many things in common - with what Gary says [Coronababble] [hat-tip: Daily Sceptic] "One thing is for sure: We must never forget what the political leaders and public health specialists inflicted upon us. Whether the reason was weakness, groupthink, conflict of interest or unadulterated corruption, the miscreants must all be held to account and pay a price for terrorising the people they are meant to serve."

Our ocracy's obvious omissions...

"...nothing would be more fatal than for the Government of States to get in the hands of experts. Expert knowledge is limited knowledge, and the unlimited ignorance of the plain man who knows where it hurts is a safer guide than any rigorous direction of a specialized character."

― Winston Churchill
CALL TO ACTION: COMPLETE SURVEY FOR PUBLIC INQUIRY

the Together Declaration reminds us that we "have until April 7 to respond to the Government's draft Terms of Reference for the Covid-19 Inquiry. It is so important that we complete this as currently there are very obvious omissions in the scope." [my emphasis]

The Terms of Reference for the UK Covid Inquiry - where you can contribute as individual or organisation - is HERE. Avoid a whitewash

If any help is needed to fill in the survey visit the TOGETHER WEBPAGE "which aims to simplify the process for you and offer some guidance on points to raise.

TPTB are trying to leave it all behind, hoping we'll forget. Never forget that SARS CoV 2 didn't do this; Covid didn't do this; unelected megalomaniac lackeys, numerous has-beens, arch jobsworths, IYIs, "experts", champagne socialists and bad politicians did this.

Update 03:25 BST: I have just submitted my response and received their acknowledgement.

Outstanding outburst on Ottawa ooze and Ozzie outcasts...

Only one oasis...

Firstly, this outstanding artwork displayed in the image is available to buy from BOB. 'Dictator' original artwork GBP10,000.00: "painted on 300gsm watercolour paper and is rendered in Indian ink and watercolours. Size approximately 30cm". I think Bob Moran covers just about every aspect of the sad woke arrogant narcissistic evil that is Justin Trudeau and his current weak attempt at being a dictator in Canada. No exaggeration: "His reaction to a peaceful demonstration has come straight out of a dictator’s playbook. His behaviour has been an affront to all so-called freedom loving democratic nations." says Mark Dolan on GB News

Anyhooo, this blog-post title 'Only one oasis' is of course Ows humour - stolen from someone somewhere online, where or whom I can't recall - for 'just a waterhole', or juste en trou d'eau in French, which of course is Justin Trudeau (I'll get my coat...). Castrito of course is no longer the glistening sweet fresh water he seemed to be, no oasis in the desert but a stagnant bio-film slime covered dirty puddle: shallow, ugly and dangerous.

Interestingly, as reported earlier last week, Castrito called on the Big Banks and Big Tech* to help restore public order by seizing donations, 'outing' those who donated, and threatening freezing corporate AND personal bank accounts: all the while calling the peaceful protestors (not a single violent episode in the whole period) racists, misogynists, terrorists and even 'people who wave swastikas'.

Many things about this should worry everyone and yet STILL not a single Western leader has condemned anything about the Canadian situation...in fact isn't the deafening silence something else that should worry us all? Yes. Credit to the exceptions (to the quote below I would add NZ, also led by an increasingly shaky sounding weak and dangerous zealot, shaky because I actually think she believed the shit she was spouting and is only now trying to see how she can get out of the hole):
"The real war is not in Ukraine, it’s in Canada, Australia, France, Brussels, England, Germany, Italy...They just want you to look the other way."

* Big State, Big Banks and Big Tech...just need Big Pharma to get involved and the set is complete.

[Update 17:35 hrs] great article on Pipeline from David Solway: Who Is Justin Trudeau?..."But all of his policy aberrations and cringeworthy absurdities count for little in the light of his latest adventure in political grotesquery. "

And from Tom Luongo, [LINK] Trampling the Truckers – The Great Reset Becomes the Great Awakening: "The Great Reset rests on tyrants like Justin Trudeau to win through fear, intimidation and the banal corruption of weak people to support them."

Oncoming oppression II...

Previously blaming the unjabbed it was Avid-Jabber Javid and Sadiq Khan[t] (amongst others), now it the normally sane Philip Johnston [DT] and, half expected, the leader of the Church of England, the primate of All England. So, will no one rid us of this turbulent priest? No, I am not suggesting anyone murder the latest Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby- his wokeness presiding over the collapse of the faith in the UK (he is not alone in the blame for this) who, in pretending to be a Christian -  said "it's not about me and my rights to choose – it’s about how I love my neighbour" [Independent], no Justi-babes, it really isn't. he thinks I am immoral. He said the same thing at the beginning of the year [Reuters] about getting the jab, back then you could forgive the ignornace, not now.

I turn your attention to The Blogmire and Rob Slane's* excellent blogpost 'The Middle of the Road to Hell'.
We are accustomed to thinking of great evil as instantly recognisable. From Nuremberg rallies to the squalor of the Gulag, great evil is something obvious and unmissable. Or so we think...
It really is an excellent piece boosted by pertinent quotes from Vaclav Havel ['An apostle of Friedrich Hayek and Margaret Thatcher...'] and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (how many of the latter's famous quotes are so relevant again now?!)
"Both Havel and Solzhenitsyn saw the issue very clearly. It is this: we can either stand for truth, or we will get falsehood; we can either retain our integrity, or we will invite deceit."
Rob piece essentially centres on the work by Belgian psychologist, Matthias Desmet re the current mass psychosis. "Amongst his many insights is the idea that totalitarian systems tend to see populations split into three broad groups. Firstly, there are those who are utterly hypnotised by the propaganda. Secondly, those who are not necessarily in thrall to the propaganda, but who nevertheless tend to go along with the demands it exacts on them. And thirdly, those who seem to be not only immune to the propaganda, but who oppose it as they are able."

Amazing this gets repeated all through history: the oft quoted Marcus Tullius Cicero [IEP], two thousand years ago said: "Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and gave him triumphal processions. Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the 'new, wonderful good society' which shall now be Rome, interpreted to mean 'more money, more ease, more security, more living fatly at the expense of the industrious.'"

Wow...the 2nd time in a week with a Cicero quote...

* Rob Slane 'dwells in the Country Formerly Known as Great Britain, now known as The Quagmire'.

Update 1 p.m.: across the pond the lies are similar: Sleepy Joe said "The only real protection is to get your shot."...stop lying POTUS. For those not believing what the Whitehouse has said ("For the unvaccinated, you’re looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm.") here is the WH briefing room link

Obedible ovine or objicient oblocutor...

Interesting and worrying stuff from the increasing quoted and watched Neil Oliver on the UK's GB NEWS (from last saturday, 20th Nov). Read it all.

"Mark Twain said history doesn’t repeat but it rhymes." In Austria the unthinkable is happening; 'they have history' you say, but "Other countries – Germany, the Czech Republic, Greece, Italy – are on the same path as Austria, towards locking down the unvaccinated." This in the patent and-becoming-more-obvious-every-day [accidentally-on-purpose ignoring of the fact] that the unvaccinated pose no risk whatsoever.
Many of those unvaccinated were therefore working in shops and cafes and restaurants and so on – as lowly servants, if you will – but as soon as their shifts ended they could not be in those same places, certainly not as customers.
Ludicrous, illogical...sinister.
We turn blind eyes and deaf ears to uncounted numbers of girls raped and abused in Rotherham and other towns all over England, for fear of upsetting community relations. We promise never to forget the Holocaust while simultaneously turning a blind eye to the abuse, perhaps genocidal abuse, of the Uyghur Muslims in China.
Neil has words that match my own and many others: "How on earth have we got here, and so quickly?". The totalitarian bent [as you can see from previous posts isn't solely using COVID] has come to the fore and Lord Acton's phrase is so true: "All power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely." In 20 months the direction of travel hasn't changed but the sidle has become a gallop.

Coming to a town near you: "...we have a moral obligation to disobey unjust laws".

Will you obey or will you object?

[Update 23.11.21.]: Lord Sumption in the Telegraph, "Europe's latest wave of Covid authoritarianism has set a dangerous new precedent".
"The absence of moral scruple in pursuit of what is thought to be a public good is the first symptom of totalitarianism"
