Outstanding oration III...

Sorry to be a bit behind the curve but I have been (and will be some more next week) in rural Central and South America. The Donald in outstanding form. The hour came years ago; has - at long last - the man cometh?  President Trump's "remarks" to the People of Poland last week, full text HERE; video HERE.

"This continent no longer confronts the specter of communism. But today we’re in the West, and we have to say there are dire threats to our security and to our way of life. You see what’s happening out there. They are threats. We will confront them. We will win. But they are threats."..."We are confronted by another oppressive ideology - one that seeks to export terrorism and extremism all around the globe. America and Europe have suffered one terror attack after another. We’re going to get it to stop."...

..."Finally, on both sides of the Atlantic, our citizens are confronted by yet another danger -- one firmly within our control. This danger is invisible to some but familiar to the Poles: the steady creep of government bureaucracy that drains the vitality and wealth of the people. The West became great not because of paperwork and regulations but because people were allowed to chase their dreams and pursue their destinies."

..."What we have, what we inherited from our -- and you know this better than anybody, and you see it today with this incredible group of people -- what we've inherited from our ancestors has never existed to this extent before. And if we fail to preserve it, it will never, ever exist again. So we cannot fail."

..."Our citizens did not win freedom together, did not survive horrors together, did not face down evil together, only to lose our freedom to a lack of pride and confidence in our values. We did not and we will not. We will never back down."

These are just snippets.

Overtly original oration...

The word cloud from yesterday is one thing, the overall content quite another: "Like everything else about him, Trump's speech was indeed a break from established tradition, and nowhere was this more obvious than in the selection of words that had never appeared previously in any US inaugural address." [Link ZH] Some of them you can understand not being said before: bleed, carnage, ripped, rusted and tombstones for instance. Others not so weird: lady, landscape and urban.
The Millennium Report called it the 'Greatest Inaugural Address In U.S. History', simple because "Trump Told The Truth Like No President Before Him". ...

"Trump thrashed them with his words of truth as he trashed their empty promises and politics of betrayal."

Obama's off...

...and The Donald is here. Orange is the new black. Below is the BBC word cloud of Donald Trump's POTUS inauguration speech: apparently it was fairly short speech [update: shortest since Carter] when compared to Obama's but it seems quite clear that he intends to attempt exactly what he said before: MAGA. However, IMHO he made a few too many promises and repeatedly made one grave error: never say 'never'.

Now the last of Ows Obama comments (unless he comes back like he's threatened to do): Obama had one last admission (apart from tons more last minute legislation) as near as damn-it admitting the 'hacking' was a leak. Nostalgia: Obama's biggest lies and Obama's offspring

Outrage outlaws...

[Edited: 'dead' image/video removed]

Well said Rowan! And well said Cranmer (hat-tipped) who writes "Criminal law rightly protects individuals against unjust discrimination, incitement and violence. But it is unacceptable that it has moved into areas of annoyance, disturbance and inconvenience. The law should punish violence or the threat of violence; it should not be used to protect us from having our feelings hurt, especially since people may manifestly choose of their own volition to be offended."

Ahhhh (sighs), who can forget Constable Savage; another was the vicar on gay Christians, "God hates poofs"...those and other favourites HERE. The Conservative party Conference: "Like we understand young criminals, another very emotive issue. This party feels that we've been just a little too soft on these... bastards. ...If [electric shock treatment] doesn't work? Then of course we will be more than prepared to revert to old liberal wishy-washy socialist Nigger-loving Red left-wing homosexual commie ways of the recent past. But please, let's have a chance!"
