Overt obtuseness...

An excellent cartoon; there are many similar ones but this variation on a theme is one of the goodies, as is Branco's Socialism or Bust. Why oh why do so many grown-up otherwise sensible politicians not seem to realise? The SJWs, lefty fuckwits, wankerati and media dick-heads one can understand being biased and blinkered but when elected politicians (in UK, USA and elsewhere) say the same things - and mean it! - we should be worried.

Obnoxious ostentation...

Bravo James Bartholomew: now I know what to call it: virtue signalling!

"There was a time when Britain had a form of Christianity in which pride was considered a sin. Maybe that is part of why some of us find all this virtue signalling obnoxious. It’s just showing off. For some of us it is both ridiculous and irritating that people who say that they hate Ukip actually believe they are being more virtuous than others who visit the sick, give money to charity or are kind to someone lonely. But the widespread way in which people now proudly boast suggests there is no shame, no reflection..."

By no means exclusively of the Left, they don't quite have a monopoly, but it is certainly more widespread amongst the liberal-leftie 'do-gooders' who very rarely seem to actually DO any good - "No one actually has to do anything" - preferring to leave it to 'Society' BUT, you know where I'm going with this, don't you? (btw, nearly 28 years ago! Jeez).

Objurgation of Osborne...

...but he's right. The real debate begins...again! Some tried make political gain over the death of children recently by claiming that George Osborne was trying to make political gain (many thought so but as usual they didn't read what he said or how he said it and in answer to a specific question, they just immediately believe 'accusations')...if you see what I mean.

Today we get 'Northern Labour leftie talks sense shock!'; Simon Danczuk (Labour MP for Rochdale) in today's DT. Added to Harpie's straight-faced (hilarious) 'epiphany' over the weekend it seems Labour have realised the danger of them losing the Welfare debate!

And there's definitely someone who has benefited from doing nothing recently!

Out outers...

Nuts didn't wait long, nor the rest. I think all that is needed is full and fair disclosure of all pay and expenses/pay benefits/bonuses etc, why there need to be cuts/freeze/pension adjustments etc and who it actually effects and by how much and suddenly they will lose any non-aligned support, just as with the housing benefit there were cries of 'thousands of families will be turfed onto the streets' was turned into cries of "how much?!!" as soon as hoi polloi got to know the facts suddenly all the union and Labour rhetoric and spin falls flat on its face. P.S. and many of them are indeed true small-minded cunts. "It shows an ugly side to the hard left who cannot move on from their utter defeat at the hands of this remarkable, but now frail, lady."

Overt obloquy....

How can 'The Left' ever find solutions (to problems they have caused) if they simply have no idea what the actual problem is? YAB in the Independent is so far off target with her attempt to use GB's Olympic success against those do not agree with open border immigration : "Anyone who now thinks Britain is too multicultural?" LINK. "I wonder how the formidable anti-immigration prophets and campaigners react when medals are won by super-fit migrants and children of migrants"...WTF? Is she really so completely clueless as to what the immigration debate is about or "What multiculturalism really means"?

Olympic opening opus...

Well, maybe not an opus but certainly worth a read: the whole article is spot on IMHO: Ian Birrel in the Evening Standard: "After Danny Boyle’s rose-tinted NHS homage, Coalition attempts at its essential overhaul could be political suicide"...

"Meanwhile the case for reform grows more urgent, the funding choices more stark. Ironically, the end result is that a sentimental segment of an otherwise exhilarating Olympic ceremony will only make it that much harder to save the very institution put on show with such pride to the world."

Update: and just in case any of you were in doubt*: "Labour politicians yesterday hailed the Olympic opening ceremony as a ‘socialist’ event and ‘the best advert for the party for years".

*What did anyone expect from a Marxist?

Olympic opening...

I hope Umbongo doesn't mind: "After the display of highly selective British history, M. Dupont turned to me and remarked “C’est formidable mais ou sont les Anglais?”. Update: but they weren't 'leftie' says Boris.
