Obama omnishambles II...

Well, really it's part 600, or DC in Roman numerals. When it rains it pours: the scandal ridden remains of hope and change takes another dive. The BLS, (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) instead of being known as the Bureau Of Lies And Subterfuge will soon just be BS...and stinking to high heaven. The October 2012 pre-POTUS election jobs figures - roundly questioned at the time (but the 'conspiracy theorists' were shouted down) - was 'faked'.

"The decline - from 8.1 percent in August to 7.8 percent in September - might not have been all it seemed. The numbers, according to a reliable source, were manipulated...And the Census Bureau, which does the unemployment survey, knew it."

[source NYP, hat-tip: Zero Hedge] The image, click to enlarge, 'The Strangest Number' (the data-set showing employment of workers in the 20-24 yrs old) was just one of the indicators back then that something was amiss.

Update 1:50 pm: of course back then there were one or two things that the electorate needed distracting from and lying about the recovery was a sure way to do that.

Obama's oldies...

[Edited: 'dead' video/image removed]
I hope Romney wins...only so I'll have to think a bit more about the blog titles! Anyway, after this coming week I promise to wind my neck in a bit about the US. Anyhoo, looking at the image (click to enlarge) we'll see something ZeroHedge has banging on about for years: like the UK, the US workforce is 'slowly but surely converting itself from a full-time to part-time worker society', the reasons are obvious and explained in this post. But this isn't the only 'schism' and as Tyler mentions, it is very much an "under the radar" phenomenon; when I see - and I do - the changing 'categories' of employees in UK stores and other outlets I begin to wonder whether the same is happening this side of the pond; (apologies for multiple links to one site but it's an interesting tale).

So, if you're old, vote for Obama! Owsblog does not endorse this message!

P.S. Mark Steyn on form: "But let him keep the bomber jacket."

Oncoming ochlesis...

Not quite but in one respect the 'science' is settled; there need be no more discussion: "The immigration lobby are getting desperately short of arguments to set against the huge costs of mass immigration"... "Immigration caps don’t hamper the economic recovery. Why pretend otherwise?" [Link]

Outgoing opportunities...

[Edited - 'dead' image removed]
...36 degrees centigrade today, 41 in the car. Back in my old haunts for a bit I was catching up on last week's outrage and was surprised to read this today: "Catalonia has become, for the first time ever, the main area of emigration".

This really is a bad sign; one of the main drivers - if not the powerhouse - of the Spanish economy is seeing a fall in it's lifeblood.

Outing "Obama's" omissisons...

A look through a variety of online news media this morning (BBC, DT, Washington Post, Business Week, Fox, Reuters etc.) show an uncanny similarity in the reports of the US job figures: "Unemployment rate falls to 8.3%, to lowest level for three years"; these are the official figures so they are jumped on for news; most add comments to the effect that this is nothing but good for Obama and of course re-election. What none of them say, but maybe they will later today when they bother to check (check the 11 or so comments under this DT article for instance) is that the good figures are on the back of "the largest absolute jump in 'Persons Not In Labor Force' on record...and biggest percentage jump in 30 years."; an unprecedented 1.2 million people dropped out of the US work force in one month! [Zero Hedge].
