Orinoco obambulation II...

New Krusty by a whisker, incredible when you look at the ballot paper; but Capriles rejects the results as long as all votes are not counted [El Universal] and I am hearing that the international votes aren't fully counted (generally very anti Chavismo...also it doesn't help that they are finding ballot papers thrown in the rubbish strewn along the roadside in Barinas, Chavez's birth state and where brother Adan Chavez Frias is the governor (he was Minister of Education: those ominous overtones red education); Krusty's father Hugo de los Reyes Chavez was the previous governor and Aníbal Jose Chavez is the current mayor of major town Sabaneta, Barinas).

P.S. Worth reading how one-sided things are HERE ([edited] makes that the result was so close even more incredible).

P.P.S. More sinister still (also from Alek Boyd) they - well, the Vice-president, Chavez's son-in-law - CUT all internet in Venezuela for 45 minutes "to prevent further hacks"!

Orinico obsecration...

I live in hope that today it rains on his parade...Anyway, something well worth a read: in the NYT Francisco Toro writes on the Opinion pages: "How Hugo Chávez Became Irrelevant" [LINK]. I hope el pueblo venezolano agree with that opinion.  And from El Universal: "Opposition candidate Henrique Capriles Radonski started the give and take whereas Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez kept closed and guarded for the first time in quite a long time." IMHO El payaso pudrido offers only a split Venezuela. El flaco will create a united Venezuela.

Other orbits...

I am hoping the successful launch of another Venezuelan satellite this week will not overshadow the coming main event. I doubt it and in fact the launch - from China's Jiuquan launch center near Mongolia - been a bit of a damp squib. The better news is following Capriles round the country and today "Llegó el turno de Caracas!", It's Caracas' turn; if early photos and news are anything to go by it's going to be big. The coming 7-O isn't a shocking football score but possibly the most important date in Venezuelan elections for decades. I'm hoping Krusty Gets Kancelled.
