Happy Valentine's Day, The Lovers Day, Day of those in Love etc. Actually here in Catalonia they celebrate this more on the Día de Sant Jordi on 23rd April (yep, St. George is their patron Saint) when the giving of a book to the guys and a rose/s for the gals is the order of the day ...anyway I'm digressing. The open eyed-kiss is mentioned amongst a long list at Holistic Wisdom Inc., in an article named “Some Different Types of Kissing”: Open eyed kiss: Maintain eye contact during kissing. Well do you or don’t you? I think I almost always close my eyes when kissing on the lips. Or a closed eye kiss, which I would say is far, FAR more common: 'Close your eyes and imagine how this kiss will lead to the best sexual encounter ever imaginable'...their words! I don't always think that! Whatever, a big kiss to everyone...(who deserves one).
The list goes on...Lick kiss. While kissing, use your tongue to lick her tongue, her teeth, and the roof of her mouth. Do not confuse this 'lick' with a sloppy wet kiss. This 'lick' is very precise. This technique is meant to be used to pull your partner's mouth slightly closer to yours and to feel what your partner feels like.
Talking kiss: The talking kiss refers to whispering 'sweet nothings' to your partner as you kiss them on their lips. In between each kiss or two, while still invading their space, sharing thoughts with them about how much you like them, or how much they turn you on.
Suspenseful kiss: The type that has a long buildup and both parties wonder when the other one will start to lean over…
Elongated kiss: this one involves a bit of mouth movement (opening and closing). With the use of your tongue: Imagine sucking on your arm, while using your tongue to gently pull in the skin, and then push the skin back onto the arm. The movements are best when slow, steady and precise.
Motion kiss: Change kissing speeds. Begin super slow, and then let yourself speed up. The beginning part of the kiss should last at least 10 minutes, and then after your partner can not stand it any longer speed up. Then, do not forget to slow your speed down. Too much of anything is not a good thing. Frequent subtle alterations, keeps the person guessing as to what will come next.
Mouth explorer kiss: Use your tongue to explore the rest of your partner's mouth. What does the inside of your partner's cheek feel like, the back of the lips? Does it feel dry, hard, of firm?
Teeth cleaner kiss: While kissing, run your tongue along the inside of their mouth. Explore the structure of your partner's teeth. Feel each tooth (within reason), one by one. By following each grove, note the texture (s) of the tooth.
Slobbery kiss: This is excellent for cunnilingus and fellatio. (before you say anything I didn't add that!) The saliva acts as lubrication. However, at all other times, unless specifically requested, avoid the slobbery kiss.
Silent kiss: Kiss your partner without making any noise - best to practice when someone is around and you do not want to be heard…and still it goes on:
Copycat kiss: Kiss your partner the exact way that she/he kisses you.
Tongue player kiss: Use your tongue to play with their tongue.
Wetting lips kiss. Run your tongue along the contours of their lips.
Sucking kiss: Exactly that - Suck on their lips.
Upper lip kiss: Only kiss the upper part of the lip.
Lower lip kiss: Only kiss the lower part of the lip.
The nibbling kiss: Nibble/kiss on their lips and all over their cheeks and ears.
Tongue sucker kiss: Literally, suck on your partner's tongue as if it was a finger.
Public kiss: Kiss your partner in public, kiss your partner in private.
Loud kiss: Kiss your partner while making loud kissing noises.
Elevator (Lift) kiss: Sneak a kiss in to your partner when no one else is around.
Shared Candy Kiss: Sharing a sweet or tasty morsel can be erotic and yummy!
Peck kiss: Just a fast kiss where you peck your partner on the lips.

This is like trying to chose an icecream flavour from a deli, chocolate, vanilla or death by chocolate, tropical coconut, rum n rasin....
A smorgasbord of kisses!
I don't "do" Valentine's Day - there is something distinctly stomach-churning about it. All these desperate couples clogging up restaurants in a somewhat pathetic and sad attempt to convince themselves (and others who don't care) how in lurve with each other they are. Go out on the 13th then or the 15th! Yuk.

A small gesture on Valentine's Day is fine but you keep your love alive by the small thoughtful things that you do across the years and it does not have to be hard work but you work at a relationship.
I'd like to see you try to post your latest masterpiece on the BBC messageboards ;-)
My latest entry on my blog has been lost as a hard drive has failed so I am a bit messed up.
But I will return ;-)
PS I may have removed the original comment but this says what the previous comment said with corrections...
Too much information, Span Ows !
Lucy...hmmmm, but they all sound delicious! Maybe a little of each to satisfy all tastes?...;-)
Sarnia, despite my post I tend to agree with what you and Gildy say: it is actually a turn off and you just imagine those couples vying for restaurant reservations/ whatever sitting at home nagging each other all month beforehand. The same for too much touchy-feely-kissy-wissy in public, it just makes me think they fight at home!
Curmy!! Welcome, have you been here before..;-) I think you have but tahnks for leaving a comment. It was a bit much but I didn't want to leave any out!!!! Read my comment above...too much public affection means domestic strife...or maybe I'm wrong...maybe that's why I'm divorced!...:-(
Apologies Lucy: my wink went astray(WINK!!!)
...;-)
Just remember it was the feast of Lupercalia first! Fertility rites were directed by the Luperci, the "brothers of the wolf", priests of Faunus...
I cannot understand what the pleasure is in going out a deux surrounded by loads of other "a deuxs".
Call me an old cynic but I'd much rather stay in and watch The Arse v Loserpool (which is what I am going to do).
Hi Gavin...yes the history is really interesting but tehn Curmy would be even madder re the detail!!! Lucy actually posted a brownielinks link on the MB earlier with lots of the history...Lupercalia, Faunus (Pan) (Span???) etc also re February where a lot of leather thonged flagellation was the order of the day!!!
Sarnia - Real Madrid V Zaragoza in the semis tonight! (1-6 from the first leg...if Madrid do it it'll make history!!! I'll have to catch up on the gooners online a bit later.
P.S. Sarnia, one thing I think we all have in common is that we're cynics!...and not young!!!...;-)
Not young? WASH your mouth out with soap!
The Real Madrid v Zaragoza match sounds good too - hopefully Sky will have updates.
I'm not really THAT cynical but I do get bemused by how people are exploited (Valentine's Day).
Another thing I don't bother with either is Mother's Day - or rather I tell my bratlings not to bother.
Sorry to go against the general consensus but I have to say I find something about pagan fertility rites generally quite appealing...
I guess it's a wolf thing. Or sex...
Valentines Day is one giant rip-off.
Only if you don't get involved with the fertility rites...
Which he doesn't by his own admission!...come on Finny, lighten up and take the plunge...'she' is out there with your name on her mind...:-/
Gavin you're not against the consensus, you sound as though you're with it....pagan fertility rites, YES!!...smoochy, lovey-dovey, roses and dinner in a quite candlelit bistro(one day a year!)...NO!!
HEY!!! Wait a minute...none of you have actually answered my question re open-eyed kissing! Come on ...personal info please!
Open eyed kissing? Only sometimes...
Can't believe I'm saying this but ...felt sorry for the Gooners tonight. Liverfluke always do that - score in the last minute. Scouse bastards.
Re kissing I'm the same, very rarely or perhaps I only remember the closed-eyed passionate ones! Obviously looking into the eyes just before and /or afterwards is essential.
Re footy...ditto, sounds like Lehmann had a great game...on his own! Apologies to nay readers from Liverpool...
...ya scouse bastards!...;-)
Re Madrid..WOW! 3-0 after 10 miutes best start ever I've seen...they had about 3 or 4 more good cahnces but then they just started to pissarse around as usual...why not get 5 THEN fart about!!! Grrrr.
They showed the Real Madrid game on Sky at 10pm. I knew they'd scored three in the first 10 seconds (or whatever) but didn't know the final score.
Lehman was superb actually and I don't like the man.
Belated Valentines Greetings...
MMMM I LOVE TO KISS
MMM ..almost as much as sex..
A kiss can say so much if it is done properly...
Ok enough said, have a terrific day/night...
^.^
Cough cough splutter...oooer!
Peety, hello and I hope you enjoyed yourself immmensely too.
Yes, I've seen what you say you love and I guess kissing is a good part of sex if,as you say, it's done properly/well.
I do like your picture...and what your eyes are saying to the camera/ viewer!
Open eyed kissing's weird. You get a distroted view of your partner's face and they look freakishly large. Plus why would you be doing it, checking she's not going to turn into some monster while you're doing the deed.
On the valentines thing. I don't make a big deal of it anymore it's either for those who have been together for a couple of months and actually wasting their money at dinner when they could be shagging each others brains out. Or for couples who have completely forgotten why they ever got together with their partner and think that for some reason if they sit across a table it'll spark romance. It won't you'll sit in silence all night because you ran out of things to say years ago. Which brings me to the other reason not to do valentines day, restaurants are deathly hushed on valentines day, there's no atmosphere. You need a few big parties to get the thing going.
I pretty much agree with all of that Six. Body kissing is one thing but eyes open when mouth to mouthing (???) seems either insecure (worried she's not enjoying it!) or heartless (don't care or feel anything for the kissee...
eyes open ..mmmm ....do you look a little like a fish ?
...and of course ..from a female perspective..just how many calories do you use in a kiss ...7/8, I read somewhere ..although I guess it depends on the passion ...
...do I look like a fish? No but sometimes I feel I've pulled a muscle...;-)
I wouls have thought more than 7 or 8 calories but the passion would definitely play a part. sex is good for you so I guess kissing is the start of something good...not that we have sex everytime we kiss but ...OK I'll shut up....
:-/
Tracey Coxs sex lessons were on tv last year. One lesson was to sit naked opposite your partner with just finger tips touching. Eye contact had to be maintained. It proved difficult. There is something comforting about closing everything out whilst in passion...
Mmmmmm, kissing......
Like this post alot Spanish, and have tried most of the flavours you describe herein!
A wonderful way to pass the time.

"A wonderful way to pass the time"...
Katey Lena...yes indeed!!

I'm up for a snog Span and it isn't even Valentine's anymore. Tongues? I'm recovered now so you will not be enrolled on the weight loss programme!
