...or Carlos the Jackal!"We thought he was a cannibal," Chavez said, referring to Amin, whose regime was notorious for torturing and killing suspected opponents in the 1970s. "I have doubts. ... I don't know, maybe he was a great nationalist, a patriot."
A person known (not just accused) of being guilty of multiple terrorist attacks, a known multiple murderer, well Chavez "defends" him; it's not the first time either, a few years ago he announced how he considers him a friend, and about that time Citizen Feathers reminded us he had corresponded with "El Chacal". Worth noting that letter was written AFTER Chavez became president. Let's hope that what Shimon Peres said last week turns out ot be true."They accuse him of being a terrorist, but Carlos really was a revolutionary fighter," [From AP about an hour ago] "Chavez said during a televised speech to socialist politicians from various countries, who applauded."

Don't you just wish Bill Hicks was still alive. "Shimon Peres speaks in the Presidential Palace of the country that gave refuge to the fleeing Nazi's after WW2." Does life get anymore weirder than that?
Your friend Hugo gets stranger by the day, I reckon it will turn out to be a CIA fuelled plot - they are putting something in his drinking water.
For some reason I didn't see this comment before...anyway, yes, there is certainly some funny goings-on, mainly inside Hugo's head.
Big hoohah this weekend (apart from war footing, arrested spies etc!!!) as one of the richest men in the country (3rd I think) has been arrested, he's been buying banks for years. He started as a truck man and lent Hugo his fleet when things got rough in the national strike (2002/3) and of course afterwards was given massive government contracts to move all sorts of things around, then importing, then buying grain companies, then banks...all under the noses of government so "presumably" with consent...now he's been nailed it should be interesting to see what crawls out of the woodwork! 30% of all deposits in his banks are the governments'. If you're interested the only (a single hit!) news in English I could find is HERE
