Onomatomanic outrecuidance II...
Amazingly, when I checked the first Onomatomanic outrecuidance I found it was almost exactly 3 years ago...when Adolf Hitler Campbell** was just a year old. Back then it was about "idiot parents" from New Zealand that wanted to call their son Superman because their chosen name of 4Real was been rejected by the government registry. I always recall that post as it descibes two brothers with the names Winner and Loser...great story.
** "A US appeals court has ruled a couple who gave their children Nazi-inspired names should not regain custody, citing the risk of serious injury to them."
onomatomania n. - preoccupation with words and names
outrecuidance n. - egomania; gross conceit (both from HERE)

Hi Span, re the U.S case, the names excuse was something out forward to the press by the father. The real story is here: http://media.nj.com/ledgerupdates_impact/other/a2208-09.pdf
Depressing reading but the Social Workers do at least come out of this well.
hi Paul.
God...I'd bearly got to the start of page 4 before a serious depression overcame me...there was mention of this (the father's deflection) in the BBC story I linked to.
btw, I know an a couple of Adolfo's but of course they don't have the polemic 'middle' name.
...ironic of course but had AH himself got his way these two would be toast...yeah, OK. OTT.
