Original obituary...
[Edited - 'dead' image removed] Only one Original remained: Jimmy Storie, aged 92, and he sadly died last month; I wasn't aware until today. He was the last surviving member of "The Originals", a handful of men who in WW2 in North Africa became 'L' Detachment, the unit that would develop into the Special Air Service Regiment. And to quote Lord Ashcroft "...what a remarkable life he enjoyed especially as – given the incredibly dangerous nature of his missions – the odds were firmly stacked against him ever seeing his 30th birthday, let alone birthdays into his 90s."

I'm two people from Jimmy Storrie in the six degrees of seperation gamed and I was going to post about it last week but decided against it.
Real boys own stuff, we were only talking the other day about how Commando magazine (anybody who grew up in the 1960's owned at least one copy) is now so un-pc but the collected volumes sell as soon as they appear in the shops.
Brave men but so matter of fact as I know from my connection.
Blimey, cooool. yes, laughing now at some of the childrens' written entertainment we enjoyed.
You are so right re the matter-of-fact-ness of the 'real heroes' (I say 'real' because IMHO anyone who survives any trauma isn't automatically a hero just for having been there).
