I was hoping that Keira might win the best actress award, I really was impressed with Pride and Prejudice and not (just) because she is gorgeous but because the film was so well made; unfortunately she was beaten to it by Resse Witherspoon in 'Walk the Line'; I must admit Resse's was a very good performance but it won't stop me posting more photos of Keira anyway, in sympathy...;-) 
The UK was fairly well represented in the nominations and the winners; the best actor award was certainly well deserved (full list) but I'm not too sure I agree about the best supporting actor: it went to George Clooney in Syriana, which I watched last night, and although it was a good film and his was a good performance, I did not think it Oscar-worthy.
Not having had a TV for at least 2 and a half years makes me far more interested in cinema than I used to be and I go as often as I can - there is nearly always something worth watching; does anyone have any favourite/ enjoyable films they've seen recently?

Hello Peachy, much as I do have a cuddlywuddly feeling for Keira and as much as I loved teh film (I DID!) I didn't really think she'd win an Oscar. Resse in Walk the Line was superb, no doubt about that...so was Joaquim Pheonix.
Mags, do as you wish, but the beard doesn't suit him and he's got all podgy...(whistle)...however perv away all you like as i believe it's good for the health...:-)

Likeness to your evil one is purely coincidental - I'm not THAT naughty...Ahem, maybe it's Keira's minx/pixy/twitchy-nose giggliness that gets my old (ish!!!) (just beating) heart.
Rachel is just as lovely and sort of got a mention as being the picture and main content of the beeb link re UK awards; she was superb in the Constant Gardener - I loved Le Carre's book too but it wasn't as good as Absolute Friends.
P.S. Again to Mags, I could have posted pictures a lot more pervy than the ones I did...there's loads 'out there'.....apparently...gulp.
I've never really been a film buff. To me, the Oscars are completely detached from reality. It is a society of friends patting each other on the back.
I agree Finny, along with teh plethora of music awards that there are now; there seems to be an "aren't we wonderful" award ceremony every month - it's an entire industry!

The Oscars pretty much passed me by but I did get to see Crash the other night. Did that really win? It was OK but... well actually it wasn't brilliant. All about the message presumably. It had a sort of floaty one scene wooshes into another feel to it. I'd have put them all on roller skates myself but that's probably why I'm not a film director. I'd have given best Oscar ro Wallace & Gromit personally but not personally because that would be silly. Have a great time in South America. Want a daft fact to take with you? The colours in the national flags of the nations you are visiting represent (yellow) the gold and wealth of the nation, (red) Imperial Spain and in the middle (blue) is the Atlantic ocean to show that the Spanish got kicked out. I never said it was interesting - just that it was a fact. Blimey.

Hi Augustus, I thought the same about Crash as well - really enjoyed it but was surprise because Matt Dillon (racist [or not] cop) was the one up for the oscar for best actor; I would have givin to either the Iranian dad who shot the blanks or the little girl he 'shot'...during that scene I actually burst into tears it was incredibly effective and well filmed...glad this post is now down the 'front page' a bit...no-one will see what I've written!...word verification...ognemiy..nearly appropriate!
